Perfect for: Women who prefer low-maintenance hairstyles but still want a modern edge.

A pixie cut with an undercut adds a youthful flair to the traditional style. This look involves short hair with one or both sides shaved or closely cropped. The result is a fresh and fashion-forward style that looks fantastic with silver or gray hair.
Perfect for: Women looking for a bold, statement-making haircut that still feels feminine.

An asymmetrical bob with an undercut combines sophistication with a hint of rebellion. One side of the bob remains longer, while the other side features a subtle or bold undercut. This versatile style works beautifully with straight or wavy hair and adds a playful twist to a classic bob.
Perfect for: Women who want to maintain length but are open to experimenting with modern styles.

This style features an undercut on one side, with the rest of the hair swept to the opposite side. The contrast creates an elegant yet daring look, offering a way to enjoy an undercut while keeping your hair’s volume and length on top.
Perfect for: Women who want a subtle, sophisticated undercut without fully committing to short hair.

A layered undercut incorporates layers into the longer top section of hair, creating movement and volume. The layers blend seamlessly with the shaved or cropped sides, making this a great choice for women with thinner hair who want to add fullness and texture.
Perfect for: Women with fine hair looking for added texture and volume without too much effort.

This bold, mohawk-inspired undercut keeps the top section of hair longer while the sides are shaved close to the scalp. It’s a daring choice for women who want to fully embrace their bold side and are ready to stand out.
Perfect for: Women with a flair for the dramatic and a love for edgy, attention-grabbing hairstyles.

Combining soft curls with an undercut adds a playful and feminine touch to the edginess of the shaved sides. This style enhances natural waves or curls, creating a beautiful balance between softness and boldness.
Perfect for: Women with curly or wavy hair who want to add a touch of edge without losing their natural texture.

An undercut bob with bangs gives a modern twist to a classic style. The bob remains sleek and structured, while the undercut adds a surprising element. Soft, full bangs provide an elegant frame for the face, creating a youthful appearance.
Perfect for: Women who love a timeless bob but want to update it with a contemporary twist.
This undercut style features gradually tapered layers on top, blending into the cropped or shaved sides. It’s an ideal style for women who want to keep some length while enjoying the benefits of an undercut’s edginess.
Perfect for: Women who like a layered look but want the added dimension an undercut provides.

A textured crop with an undercut offers a trendy style that’s perfect for gray or silver hair. The short, choppy layers on top add texture and movement, while the undercut keeps it fresh and edgy.

Ridiculous to see young models again in an article about over 60 hairstyles. Stop it!!
Hi Cathy, and thank you for commenting.
I understand your frustration, but other than using AI generated images, which we don’t really want to do for various reasons, we can do as good as our image provider allows. And finding very specific images is sometimes impossible.
There need to be models to photograph in order for us to use those photos. Please consider that these are illustrative.
I am a hairdresser. All my career I took photos of my clients and posted in my salon. I did not use stock photos. Before writing this article, you should have set up a model call and had mature models or not published the article. Women over 60 are invisible enough and this article is insulting. Shame on you.
Hi Mary, and thank you for commenting. We are not a hairdresser salon and don’t have models on call, nor can we deal with all the copyright and legal issues related to such an endeavor. We can’t set up a model call as that would be too expensive for an organization that doesn’t have a paid service or products from which to make a profit.
On the other hand, if you can take photographs of older models, please do. It’s a great idea for a small business. You can upload them to iStock, and we will purchase them for Sixty and Me articles. And we will really appreciate it!
Take good care and do let me know if you decide to pursue this opportunity!
Why write the article, and show stock photos of younger women, if you cannot personally provide real models (even friends) with these haircuts? YOU should take the photos – and start your small business doing so – rather than expect your readers to do so.
There is only one woman in the group that could be called “older” and the rest of the group are clearly in their 20’s.
Thank you for commenting, Lin. Of course, you are right. Unfortunately, our image provider doesn’t have the exact images that we would like to use. What you see are the best we could find.
Older women haircuts? Get real women over 60 PLEASE! Ridiculous
Hi Jani! Thanks for commenting. We would LOVE to have older models. Alas, stock image providers don’t have that many older women to choose from! And specific haircuts? We really can’t find many! Please consider these illustrative.
Your haircut models should be older women. That’s what this is about, right?
Thank you for commenting, Becky. We are frustrated about that as well, but our stock image provider, although a good one, doesn’t have nearly enough older models to choose from! Please take these as illustrative images only.
As a senior citizen, I enjoy your articles and find some very helpful. My concern is none of these women seem to be over 60 or even near to it. I, as I am sure many women my age would prefer older models.
Thank you for commenting, Kay. I completely agree. Unfortunately, we don’t have nearly enough older women models to choose from in our stock image provider. These were the best we could find to illustrate the hairstyles we wanted to share.
