Few moments in a woman’s life are more precious than meeting one of her grandchildren for the very first time. And, with 68 grandkids, this is a sentiment that 86-year-old Marie Frey is very familiar with!
Recently, Frey received a very special birthday gift when she welcomed her 86th great-grandchild into the world just three days before her own 86th birthday!
Born and raised in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, two of the most important things in Frey’s life are family and faith. This comes as no surprise seeing as how Frey and her late husband, Gerald, have 15 children together.
Frey’s family describes her as a very strong woman – and she’d have to be to keep up with her 15 children, 68 grandchildren, and 86 biological great-grandchildren!
With as many family members as the population of a small country, Frey’s grandson, Kenny Frey, says that being part of such a large crew is his grandmother’s greatest joy.
He told ABC News, “She came from large family and Grandpa did too. My wife and I also wanted a big family.”
Kenny is well on his way to following in his grandmother’s footsteps after welcoming his fifth daughter (and Marie’s 86th great-grandchild), Blakely Grace Frey, into the world on June 23.
Being born in perfect health and weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces, Blakely was the perfect early birthday blessing for Marie.
And the blessings don’t stop there! Marie’s family is continuing to grow as she is expecting great-grandchild number 87 and 88 later this year from Kenny’s sister and cousin.
Here in the Sixty and Me community, we know how precious family is. Spending time with your loved ones often becomes even more profound with age as we realize that every moment is meant to be cherished. We want to wish Marie, Kenny, Blakely, and the rest of the Frey clan all the best on their growing family.
What do you think about Marie Frey and her 86 great-grandchildren? Are you part of a big family? What other joys in life come close to spending time with loved ones in your book? We look forward to reading your comments.
