Friends for more than three decades, Meryl Streep, 69, and Tracy Ullman, 58, recently hit the red carpet together looking sleek and stylish at the Tribeca TV Festival at Spring Studios in New York City.
Both women traded in the more traditionally seen red-carpet attire of gowns or dresses for slightly more casual looks – but they certainly didn’t sacrifice any style in doing so.
Streep stunned in an all-black ensemble featuring a silky black button-down shirt and a tailored pair of black clamdigger slacks. Black wedge sandals, tan-rimmed glasses, and simple but elegant makeup helped her create a streamlined and chic look.
What really took Streep’s outfit to the next level, though, was the addition of a long, chunky, statement necklace that ultimately served as a stylish focal point for the entire ensemble.
Looking equally chic and sophisticated as she stood alongside Streep on the red carpet, Ullman wowed in a long, red, velveteen coat that she wore cinched around her waist with a matching sash.
In order to allow her stunning jacket to really shine, Ullman paired it with simple black slacks, a black blouse, and black heels in addition to a lovely, understated necklace.
The long-time friends smiled and laughed for photographers before heading inside for the screening of the season 3 premier of HBO’s Tracy Ullman’s Show and a post-screening discussion.
While the season 3 premier of Ullman’s HBO show was a hit, the real magic happened on-stage during a post-screening discussion moderated by three-time-Oscar-winner, Streep.
Audience members were loving the hilarious chemistry exhibited between the two talented actresses as the discussion kicked-off with Ullman gently poking fun at her friend and launching into a side-splittingly funny Meryl Streep impersonation.

Even Streep couldn’t contain her laughter as Ullman perfectly captured the Oscar-winner’s highly recognizable articulation style during her playful impersonation.
While the laughs were not in short supply as the two friends chatted on stage, Streep did manage to engage Ullman in some more serious conversation regarding her personal life, her acting and comedy career, and her outspoken political opinions.
Overall, the night was a spectacular success for both women, who managed to look both sleek and stylish while seriously entertaining attendees with an incredibly engaging, intelligent, and humorous post-screening discussion.
You can check out Tracy Ullman in Tracey Ullman’s Show returning to HBO Friday, Sept. 28 at midnight and look forward to Meryl Streep appearing in the upcoming season 2 of HBO’s Big Little Lies and later this year in the film, Mary Poppins Returns.
