One of the strange realities of life is that we assume that everyone else has their lives together while ours is in chaos. The reason for this is that we are all great actors; we are able to hide our imperfections, worries and problems from the world. On the other hand, we know ourselves perfectly because… well we are ourselves.
Today, I read a quote that I hope every woman in the Sixty and Me community takes to heart. The quote is by Ernest Hemingway, who said “We are all broken, that’s how the light gets in.”
Over the years, I have learned to love myself because of, not despite of, my imperfections. Like most women, self-esteem is something that I have struggled with my whole life. Now, as I reach my 60s, I am finally able to accept myself. I hope that you feel the same.
Today, let’s remember that we are all broken – in the best possible way. Our imperfections make us human. They are a constant reminder of where we have been and what we can still achieve. You are beautiful and precious and unique.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below and “like” and share this article to keep the conversation going.
Do you agree or disagree that we are perfect because of our imperfections? Why do you think we are so willing to see other people as being stable and normal, while we judge ourselves harshly?
