Ripley, the powerful character played by Sigourney Weaver in the Alien series, has had a tough life. She has been attacked by vicious, acid-drooling aliens, trapped, killed and resurrected. She has encountered personal conflicts and fought to protect her crew. Now, there are signs that, in Alien 5 (actual title: Alien: Covenant), Ripley’s troubled story may finally be coming to an end!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sigourney Weaver reportedly said, “It’s a great story and it’s satisfying to me to give this woman an ending.”

Talk about a plot tease! This simple statement has left many fans wondering whether Alien 5 will see the death of Ripley (again!) And, if she does meet her end in the film, will it be her “final end” or will some future film director find a way to bring her back again?

Ripley’s Story May Be Ending, but, Sigourney Weaver is Just Getting Started!

One thing is for certain, even if Ripley’s story may be coming to an end, Sigourney Weaver has more than enough exiting opportunities to keep her busy over the next decade.

At age 66, Weaver definitely isn’t slowing down. In addition to Alien 5, she is also working on Tomboy, a Revenger’s Tale and Avatar 2, 3 and 4.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Sigourney Weaver. She has played some of the strongest female characters in film history. She is also a champion for animal rights, having recently won the Indianapolis Zoo’s Jane Global Alexander Wildlife Ambassador Award.

I can’t wait to see what happens to Ripley in the upcoming Alien 5, which is scheduled to release in 2017. In fact, I may just have to go back and re-watch the other 4 films. Ok, maybe I’ll skip Aliens: Resurrection. Other than Weaver’s contribution, there wasn’t much to see there!
