When you see a “strong woman” portrayed in a movie or on TV, she is almost always pushy, opinionated and self-centered. There is an implicit assumption that in order for a woman to be “strong,” she needs to be aggressive and brash.
In my experience, the strongest women are exactly the opposite of this stereotype. Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with 1000s of women over 60 and I can say, without reservation, that the strongest among us are quiet, kind, resourceful and deep.
It reminds of a quote that I once heard, “Sometimes the strongest women are the ones who love beyond all faults, cry behind closed doors, and fight battles that nobody knows.” This has been my experience as well.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions and “like” and share this article to keep the conversation going.
Do you agree that there is a special kind of strength that is unique to women? Or, do you think that being strong requires us to be a bit pushy and aggressive? Who is the strongest woman that you have ever met and why?
