If you ask most people if are grateful, they will probably say yes. We like to think of ourselves as grateful people. But, true gratitude is not something that you feel; it is something that you do!
One of the simplest ways to show your gratitude is to thank other people for their efforts and to give genuine complements. As Randy Rausch once said, “Showing gratitude is one of the most powerful things that humans can do for each other.”
When we show gratitude to another person, we validate them, while we improve our own happiness. We also train ourselves to look for the good in others and their actions. In this way, gratitude creates a virtuous cycle – the more we are grateful, the happier we become and the happier we become, the more willing we are to see the good in others.
Today, let’s all make an effort to go beyond feeling grateful. Let’s start being grateful. Let’s celebrate life together and appreciate the people make a difference in our lives.
What is one thing that someone has done for you recently that you are truly grateful for? Do you think that being grateful is more powerful than feeling grateful? Why or why not? Please add your thoughts in the comments section below.
