Hi everyone! Here are the biggest news stories for August 25, 2018 along with a few of my own thoughts. I also have a fascinating question to ask all of you about how you deal with stress. I hope that you will join the discussion!
According to the Washington Post, Senator John McCain of Arizona has made the difficult decision to stop his brain cancer treatment. According to his family, “John has surpassed expectations for his survival. But the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict.” Our thoughts and prayers are with John McCain and his family.
NASA has released a fascinating new view of the Earth on their “Worldview” app. The new view shows all of the major fires that can currently be detected on the planet. You can check out NASA’s Worldview app here.
According to the BBC, the economic crisis in Venezuela is starting to reach a critical level. Not only are conditions within the country deteriorating, but, Venezuela’s neighbors are struggling to deal with the influx of immigrants from the South American country.
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has decided to keep the car company public after talking with investors and his business partners. Musk’s decision does nothing to dispel the perception that he only talked about taking the company private to “punish” investors who had been shorting Tesla stock. Several lawsuits related to Musk’s initial privatization tweet are still pending. You can read Tesla’s announcement here.
Sean Connery was born in 1930 in Edinburgh, Scotland, which just happens to be where my youngest son lives.
Today, on August 25th, he is 88 years old, so, I would love to wish him a very “Happy Birthday” on behalf of all the women in our Sixty and Me community – not only because he is an acting icon for our generation, but, because he is a man of deep character, who is aging his unique and wonderful way.
