Until a few weeks ago, I never understood the appeal of cooking. When I was younger, I had a fear of the kitchen. Having lost my mom at a young age, I didn’t feel that I had the skills to produce my own culinary masterpieces.
Then, as a working mom, I found myself with little time to improve my cooking skills. I still made sure that my kids “ate their greens,” but, I didn’t put much weight on developing my own family recipes – unless a melted ham and cheese counts as a “family recipe.”
Then, a few weeks ago, my interest in cooking took a turn for the better. I went on a cooking holiday, where I learned how to make amazing Italian food.
Ok, that’s a bit of a stretch. Actually, I learned to follow the instructions of our fabulously talented chef, Antonio. But, for someone like me, who spent most of her life avoiding the kitchen, it was a great start.
Now that I have started to take an interest in cooking, I find myself getting increasingly curious about new recipes. I’d love to find out more about the meals that you love to cook for your family. Maybe we can give each other some ideas for our next family get-together.
