At 77 years old, some might expect Martha Stewart to kick up her heels and spend her days relaxing and settling into a blissful retirement. After all, Stewart has built an illustrious career over the years with her pursuits in television, books, magazines, and merchandising among various other endeavors.
And while Stewart’s professional life and image have certainly not been without struggles and setbacks, Stewart has proven that she is an incredibly resilient businesswoman and individual, rising from her trials and tribulations like a phoenix from the ashes, with strength and fervor.
Which is why no one would blame the lifestyle mogul if her goals for 2019 included nothing more than sleeping late and spending lazy days reading in one of her impeccably decorated homes…but alas, Stewart has some big goals for 2019 and none of them include sleeping late or being lazy!
Martha Stewart’s resume is jam-packed with a multitude of enviable accomplishments – former model, retail executive and businesswoman, writer, television personality, founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia which includes a variety of publishing, broadcasting, and merchandising projects…the list goes on and on.
Which leaves us wondering, with so many achievements already under her belt, are there any goals or New Year’s resolutions left for Stewart to make as we head into 2019?
As it turns out – yes, there are plenty!
Stewart recently told Closer Weekly at the 2019 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala in New York City, among her 2019 goals, writing her 100th book is at the top of the list, saying, “My most important [thing to accomplish this year is], well, actually to start writing my hundredth book!”
Stewart offered up no other details about what her upcoming book might focus on but based on the majority of her other books focused on lifestyle topics like cooking, gardening, home décor, and fashion, it’s a safe bet that Stewart will stick to what she knows and loves for her upcoming iconic 100th book!
In addition to her writing goals, we can expect Stewart to focus a good amount of her attention in 2019 on her very successful fashion line and her newly launched shoe line, Martha Everyday with Payless ShoeSource.
In fact, Stewart has quickly made a big impression on the fashion world, as she was awarded YMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala, saying, “I’m in fashion now, that’s why I’m getting honored by this group tonight. I had a very successful year on QVC with my fashion line, but [my shoe line is] really nice and practical, I call it every day elegant. It’s working really well, people love it.”
And while Stewart’s growing interest in fashion may have some fans worried that she will abandon the culinary and home projects that she is well-known for, fear not – Stewart assures fans she will not abandon her original interests, saying, “Oh no, no never! I will always love cooking, I will always love gardening, I will love everything about the home, and fashion is part of home.”
Phew! After all, cooking just wouldn’t be cooking without Martha Stewart!
And for those who might need a little bit of help setting and reaching their own 2019 goals, Stewart’s best advice is to approach all things with fearlessness, saying, “I’m not afraid of anything. Fearlessness really, really helps.”
Furthermore, when making and tackling goals, Stewart considers the legacy that she will leave behind. Which is a big part of why the books that she’s written, and plans to write, are so near and dear to her heart, “I thought if I don’t write a book, my grandchildren, if I ever have any, will never know what Grandma did in her life because catering is so ephemeral. You do it… and the minute they eat the dinner, it’s gone. I wanted to make sure that I recorded my ideas, the beautiful recipes.”
So, in true Martha Stewart form, we hope that you consider, set, and approach your 2019 goals with fearlessness and thoughts of one day leaving behind a long-lasting legacy! Cheers and Happy New Year to all!
