A Personal Shopping Stylist is a professional who provides personalized assistance and guidance to individuals in selecting and purchasing clothing, accessories, and other fashion items. These experts are typically well-versed in current fashion trends, have a keen eye for style, and possess a deep understanding of their clients’ preferences and body types.
Here are some key aspects of what a Personal Shopping Stylist does:
Stylists begin their service by conducting consultations with clients to understand their fashion preferences, lifestyle, and specific needs. This initial conversation helps the stylist tailor their recommendations to suit the individual’s unique style and requirements.
Some Personal Stylists offer wardrobe assessment services where they evaluate a client’s existing clothing collection. This helps them identify gaps, suggest versatile pieces, and create a more cohesive and functional wardrobe.
With the rise of online shopping and virtual services, many Personal Shopping Stylists now offer remote assistance. Through video calls, emails, or specialized styling platforms, they provide recommendations, curated looks, and links to purchase items online.
Stylists often assist clients in finding the perfect outfit for special occasions such as weddings, parties, or important events. They consider the dress code, the client’s personal style, and any specific requirements to ensure the chosen outfit aligns with the occasion.
Stylists stay updated on seasonal trends and can help clients transition their wardrobes from one season to another. They may suggest key pieces to add or retire based on changing weather and fashion trends.
Personal Shopping Stylists are well-versed in the offerings of the store they work for. This knowledge allows them to recommend items that align with their client’s style preferences and budget.
Beyond selecting clothing, Personal Shopping Stylists play a role in boosting their clients’ confidence. By helping individuals discover styles that complement their body shapes and suit their personalities, stylists contribute to a positive self-image.
A Personal Shopping Stylist can save clients valuable time and effort. With their expertise, clients can avoid the stress of navigating crowded stores, sifting through numerous options, and making impulse purchases that may not align with their overall style.

I have used the personal shopping services at Macy’s. I was very impressed. The stylist selected wonderful items and accessories for me. I highly recommend it.
I’m surprised Chico’s isn’t on this list. They do the same if you want the advice.
Talbots also offers personal styling
Yes, years ago I found a store in Indiana that dressed me from head to foot in beautiful outfits tailor made. I miss that store and the ladies. I also found an under garment store that helped me the same way. I now work where I don’t need that anymore. Sad
I have no idea where I would find a personal stylist at my local Macy’s store as it appears to be all self-service these days. I could not find a sales associate my last two trips there. The only staff people I saw were at the checkout locations. The only exception is, of course, cosmetics and probably jewelry. I was not shopping in those locations.
