New Zealand is very friendly and compact enough you can tour the country from side to side, from Alps to beaches in one day. So close to our huge neighbour Australia you could do both.

Sue

Yes definitely New Zealand. I have traveled there solo several times.

Claudia

I did not like southern Italy as a woman of 39. The men were much too aggressive. And the north Italy was very enjoyable. I traveled through north India 35 years ago. At that time, the social structure was much tighter. If I ever did have a problem I knew that a family would take me under their wings, or even a bus driver himself. I’m 70 now and the whole world has changed. Even in America there are places that are not safe.

Sharon

I would add Italy to the list. I traveled Italy just before the pandemic. I do not speak Italian. People were amazingly friendly and helpful! I found myself in a ‘bad’ part of town but didn’t realize it. An older couple approached me and gave me a ride to my destination. A bunch of migrant boys helped me find a taxi stand and waited with me while it showed up. The only rude person I encountered was an Asian woman in Rome who tried to bump me off the sidewalk.when she passed me. There was no one else on the street in a Chinese area I wandered into. She didn’t like tourists?

When you are with tour groups, nothing happens. I have traveled in Colombia(don’t wear expensive jewellry) Bali(be careful what you eat) Singapore(Great shopping). I am 73 and hoping to go to Ireland in the next year.

My advice when traveling alone, always be aware of your surroundings, be cautiously friendly and NEVER act afraid or worried. Be confident in yourself

Sue

Yes, I have traveled twice to Italy. It is very safe.

Anita

Glad Australia was on the list. Women are safe and welcome as solo travellers. Come on Down!

Sue

I am visiting Australia right now. I have been here many times and love it.

Lyn

I believe that there is no need to travel out of the USA when traveling solo. I have traveled alone from Texas to Florida (St.Augustine), Colorado (Estes Park), South Carolina (Charleston), as well as to many National Parks. Never a problem, met many new friends. Spending my travel $$ in the US was easy and I feel contributes to our economy.
