After more than eight years of creative, casting, and directorial issues, Bohemian Rhapsody, a film celebrating the journey and rise to fame of the band Queen and their extraordinary lead singer, Freddie Mercury, is finally about to hit theaters – and fans can’t wait.

Although the initial trailer for the film dropped weeks ago, a new clip from the upcoming movie was released earlier this week and has only added to the already massive anticipation for the film.

This new clip shows members of Queen in the studio, collectively working on their legendary hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

The clip shows Roger Taylor singing the beloved line, “Galileo! Galileo!” as Freddie Mercury urges him to sing higher and higher until the now-famous high-pitched sound is achieved.

Oscar Buzz

While the film itself is already receiving countless glowing reviews, Rami Malek’s portrayal of Queen front-man, Freddie Mercury, is what’s generating some serious Oscar buzz.

And considering the extreme amount of effort that Malek made to truly transform himself into Freddie Mercury, and from what we can see in clips and trailers, the Oscar buzz seems well-deserved.

Regarding his preparation for the role, which was originally to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen who dropped out due to “creative differences”, Malek says, “I wanted to throw myself into it as deeply as I could. Flew to London and immersed myself in all things Freddie Mercury — took piano lessons, took singing lessons, worked with a movement coach, and tried to discover how and why he did everything that he did.”

The film traces the spectacular journey of Queen’s rise to fame, beginning with the early days of the band’s performances in and around London in the 1970’s and concluding with what has often been considered one of the most iconic live performances of all time, Queen’s famed July 1985 Live Aid performance at London’s Wembley Stadium, one of the first performances after Mercury reunited with his estranged band.

Although various individuals involved in the film’s production insist that the primary focus will not be on Freddie Mercury’s personal life and struggles, it is inevitable that the tensions surrounding Mercury’s pursuit of a solo career and his sexuality will contribute to the overall story.

However, the goal for everyone involved with Bohemian Rhapsody has been to celebrate and honor the incredible legacy of Queen and their rise to fame, including the late Freddie Mercury, who Malek has expressed great respect for, saying, “Here’s a man that would sing ‘We Are The Champions’ in an arena to thousands of people and they’re all singing it back to him. His ability to unify people, no matter who they are, was so far ahead of it’s time. I can’t think of anyone else that was capable of that.”

Bohemian Rhapsody is set to hit theaters November 2.
