I love Pilates! I joined a studio last January. The difference in my strength and posture is remarkable. I find I can follow through by scheduling myself into classes. I’ve also made some great friends there.

Once upon a time, I was that young exercise instructor. It would be better to show a plus 60 person giving the instruction. This must be a very watered down version of Pilates, because the Pilates I remember was very intense, fast, and involved a lot of movement that most seniors can no longer do. So be careful before you sign up for a Pilates class. Make sure you observe it first.

I appreciate your perspective on Pilates for seniors and agree that Pilates should be adapted to suit various needs.
In the past, Pilates instructors often tailor classes to the younger and more flexible market. However, today, many senior centres and Pilates Instructors (like myself) have specialized training in working with adults over 55 making it a safe and highly sought-after exercise program for this age group.
