Neil Diamond fans woke up to tragic news this morning. A few hours ago, the singer/song-writer, who is an absolute treasure to our generation, announced that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. As a result, he will no longer be doing any touring, although he will continue to write and take part in other projects, where possible.
Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative disorder that impacts the central nervous system. Physical symptoms can include shaking, trouble walking and stiffness. We are so sad to hear that Neil is suffering from this challenging disease.
In a heartfelt message, Neil expressed his gratitude to his fans who have followed him all these years. He admitted that his career so far has been a journey where he received as much as he took. In his own words:
“My thanks goes out to my loyal and devoted audiences around the world. You will always have my appreciation for your support and encouragement. This ride has been ‘so good, so good, so good’ thanks to you.” – Neil Diamond
Of course, the news that Neil Diamond is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and the fact that he will stop touring hit the music industry – as well as Neil’s fans – extremely hard.
