My Magical Yogurt, Lemon and Turmeric Recipe

You probably wouldn’t think that yogurt, lemon and turmeric would go well together. In reality, these three components make up my favorite turmeric recipe. In this video, I’d like to share with you why I love turmeric so much and how I combine these three ingredients to get magical results.

I’m Always on the Lookout for Healthy Aging Foods, Supplements and Spices

Like most women in our community, healthy aging is a big priority for me. After all, there are so many wonderful things in this world to see. I want to be hiking, running with my grandkids, traveling and doing yoga into my 80s and beyond.

Part of my strategy for achieving health aging is to always be on the lookout for foods and supplements that can keep my body in great shape. I understand that there is no such thing as a “magic bullet” when it comes to healthy aging and I’m not a big fan of anti-aging pills and potions.

At the same time, at a very minimum, I want to give my aging body the fuel that it needs to keep on moving forward.

What is Turmeric and Why Should You Care?

As you may know, I have a passion for India. In fact, I once started a company called “Passion for India,” which imported textiles, spices and beautiful items from this part of the world.

So, perhaps it won’t come as a surprise to you that I have had the opportunity to try many Indian dishes over the years. Many of these, as I later discovered, use turmeric, both to enhance the flavor of the food and to provide many health benefits.

To be clear, I’m not saying that turmeric will solve any specific illness. You should definitely rely on modern medicine for that. At the same time, there is now a growing body of evidence that turmeric is anti-inflammatory and anti-viral. Many people even say that it can help to ease the symptoms of diabetes. If this sounds interesting to you, I highly encourage you to do some of your own research on turmeric.

Despite its exotic history, turmeric is actually quite easy to find. Personally, I like to buy the natural root from my local Indian food store – but, the powdered turmeric that can be found in most supermarkets is also surprisingly good for you.

Here’s My Favorite Simple Turmeric Recipe

So, you’ve done your own research and determined that you want to add some turmeric to your diet. Now what? Well, I’d like to share with you one of my favorite ways to consume this powerful spice.

First, I take my favorite natural, sugar-free yogurt, preferably from a local farm, and add about a teaspoon of honey.

Then, I add about a teaspoon of lemon juice. I prefer fresh-squeezed, but, regular old lemon juice from a bottle will work fine too.

There is something so magical about the combination of these flavors. At least for me, the tart lemon, creamy yogurt and spicy turmeric combine in magical ways. Plus the golden yellow color is just amazing!

For me, these kinds of small luxuries are what makes life so special. With minimal effort, you can take a plain yogurt and make it into something wonderful.

In a few days, I’ll post a video of how to make Jamu, an Indonesian drink that combines turmeric, tamarind and ginger roots. For now, I hope that you give my special yogurt, lemon and turmeric recipe a try.
