Welcome to Mornings with Sixty and Me. It’s a beautiful Sunday here in Switzerland. I’m going to head down to the lake today for some fresh air and sunshine. I hope that you have something wonderful planned with your friends and family!
So, now on to today’s news.
In Australia, the results of the election have been decided and the conservative party will continue to govern the country. Are you in Australia? Please let us know how you feel about the results of the election.
In other International news, President Obama is in Spain for a visit. He is the first U.S. President in 15 years to visit the country.
I want to take a few moments to mention a series of articles that Next Avenue has written on the future of aging. In these articles, they discuss the growth of cross-generational workplaces. Specifically, they argue that workers from different generations should not be in conflict. They should learn to leverage each other’s unique skills and experiences.
I know that this is an issue that is important to many women in our community, so, I encourage you to check them out.
In celebrity news, Judi Dench decided to get a new tattoo. As we reported previously, she chose the words “carpe diem” (seize the day). I can’t think of a better motto for getting the most from life after 60.
Meanwhile, Helen Mirren took part in a series of ads for L’Oreal. In the series, she asked the company not to airbrush her. Good on her!
Both Helen and Judi are wonderfully talented actresses. They are also both fantastic ambassadors for women over 60. I’m so glad that they are embracing aging and setting a positive example for older women around the world.
If you could get rid of one aging stereotype, which one would you choose? Do you have any other comments regarding today’s news? Please join the conversation.
