These days, there’s no shortage of young, beefy male actors gracing the screens at the box office in the latest action films – but what about women in their 60’s?
Now that’s something we don’t see so much – until now!
Thanks to Linda Hamilton’s much anticipated return to the Terminator franchise as the beloved character, Sarah Connor, there is finally some much needed representation of women over 60 being more than capable of kicking some bad-guy butt!

Hamilton, 61, was recently seen on set in Madrid, Spain looking toned and ready for action while filming scenes for the new Terminator film set to be released on November 22, 2019.
While Hamilton hasn’t played the role of Sarah Connor in over 20 years, fans of the franchise are excited to see her back in the role and are hopeful that the sequel will be worthy of Hamilton’s many talents.
Also returning to the franchise this time around is James Cameron, one of the franchises original creators, who will join the film as a producer.
Thankfully, Cameron seems to be well-aware of the magnitude of Hamilton’s return to the franchise, having said, “As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return. There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”
Aside from the massive fan-following that Hamilton brings with her, and her extensive talents as an actor, her return to the Terminator franchise at 61-years-old makes a huge statement about age and gender in action films.
As Cameron stated, it’s not uncommon to see men in their 50’s, 60’s, or even 70’s starring in big blockbuster action movies (think Sylvester Stallone, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage – the list goes on), but there is almost no representation of women of that same age-range in these kind of films – unless they’re playing somebody’s Mom or Grandma.
And trust me, Hamilton’s role in the new Terminator film is anything but Grandmotherly!
Sporting a fresh new ‘do, aviator sunglasses, a bullet proof vest, and rippling muscles, Hamilton looks ready to kick some serious bad-guy butt in the recent photos of her on set.
The new film will also feature seasoned Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, now in his 70s, creating a trio of talent that will mark the first time all three of these stars (Hamilton, Cameron, Schwarzenegger) have worked together since 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”
Between the immense talents both on-screen and off that these actors bring to the film and the much-needed representation of women over 60 in a butt-kicking action role, the new Terminator sequel is sure to be a box-office hit!
