When it comes the silver screen, Judi Dench is no stranger to stealing the show with her iconic acting skills and captivating screen presence.
But during her recent visit to the RHS Garden Wisley Flower Show in the United Kingdom, Dench, 83, proved that she’s not only capable of stealing the show on screen, but off screen as well.
Looking effortlessly stylish in a monochromatic white ensemble, Dench also demonstrated that growing older and giving up on fashion do not go hand in hand as she showed off her keen fashion sense with her laid-back-chic look.
Wearing casual neutral-colored slacks, a loose-fitting white top, and a simple white coat, Dench created a trendy layered style that was ideal for the festive, outdoor event. To complete her look, Dench wore a delicate white scarf and donned several silver bangles on her wrist.
While Dench’s outfit was understated, she was still hard to miss at the garden show due to the perfect contrast that was created by her neutral-colored outfit against the backdrop of hundreds of colorful flowers that surrounded her as she perused the gardens and participated in several gardening activities.
Dench appeared to feel right at home as she enjoyed the very special duty of opening this year’s RHS Garden Wisley Flower Show, which should come as no surprise considering her longtime affinity for spending time in nature and gardening.
Dench is known for having a green thumb and was even the subject of a BBC documentary, Judi Dench, My Passion for Trees, that explored her devotion and love of gardening and allowed her to share why all of her plants and trees hold such a special place in her heart.
Dench is so passionate about her plants that she has even gone beyond maintaining a simple garden and planted an entire memorial forest behind her home to honor all of the friends and loved one’s that she’s lost. She has planted a tree for each person that is no longer with her, including her late husband, Michael Williams, as well as friends Stephen Hanley and Natasha Richardson, to name a few.
In the documentary, Dench comments on her garden and memorial forest, saying, “I’ve turned my six-acre garden into a secret woodland, and I see my trees as my extended family. My life now is just trees. Trees and champagne.”
Well, trees, champagne, and acting, of course! Dench will appear in two films coming out in 2019, Artemis Fowl and Six Minutes to Midnight.
