Jane Seymour Talks Aging Gracefully, Living Vivaciously, and Her New Movie, Little Italy, on the Ages & Icons Podcast

By Sixty and Me August 26, 2018 News

Jane Seymour, 67, tends to be most well-known for her role of Dr. Michaela Quinn on the ‘90s TV drama, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. But after listening to Seymour on the Ages & Icons podcast, it’s clear that her accomplishments and interests extend far beyond this beloved ‘90s TV role.

Professionally, Seymour has starred in a number of films, television series, and Broadway productions over the course of her nearly 50-year career as an actress. And with several new films coming out soon, like Friendsgiving and Little Italy, she proves that she has no intention of leaving the acting game anytime soon.

But acting isn’t the only thing keeping Seymour busy these days! A self-proclaimed foodie, on the podcast, Seymour talks about her love of cooking and explains that her happy place is being in the kitchen, making food with her family. Her affinity for food and cooking runs so deep that she actually has her own cooking show in the works, so stay tuned for that!

Beyond food and acting, Seymour continues to act as a role model for women of all ages with her body confidence and undeniable ability to feel comfortable in her own skin. Earlier this year, she posed for Playboy for the third time in her 67-years, with this photoshoot making history as she was the oldest woman to appear in the magazine in the history of its existence.

In her interview with Playboy, she said, “There’s an enormous freedom in having lived as long as I have. Like my father used to say, I’m comfortable in my own skin.”

When asked about her recent Playboy photoshoot on the podcast, Seymour explains that at this point in her life, she isn’t trying to prove anything to anyone and is simply living her life exactly as she wants to.

Tips for Staying Healthy in Your 60’s, 70’s, and Beyond

After talking about her prolific career, affinity for food, and being the oldest woman to pose for Playboy, Seymour shares her tips for staying healthy and fit in your 60s, 70s and beyond – and really, who is more qualified to offer advice on healthy living than a woman who has undeniably managed to stay fit and vivacious well into her golden years!

Seymour discusses the importance of listening to your body and knowing about your DNA as well as finding a balance between healthy eating and allowing yourself to indulge from time to time.

However, some of the most profound advice that Seymour offers is the explanation behind her motto for life which essentially involves living with an “open heart”. She explains that the key to health, and life in general, is to accept the challenges that come your way, open up your heart, and reach out to others who have experienced similar challenges, allowing yourself to receive help and offer help to others.

Seymour also maintains the mindset that today is all we have and living in the moment is essential for a happy life – wise words from a woman who truly seems to be living a vivacious, happy, and very full life!
