When I talk with the women in our community about senior dating, I am usually met with skeptical responses. It seems like the majority of us really do believe that finding love after 60 is practically impossible.
At the same time, there are usually a few people – I would say 10-20% – who say that they found the man of their dreams after their 60th birthday.
So, this makes me wonder, are the women who find love after 60, just “lucky?” Or, do they know something that the rest of us don’t? Is there some special technique that these women used to find the man of their dreams? Or, is it just a matter of being in the right place at the right time?
As I was pondering this issue, I came across a quote that I think might provide a partial answer to this question. The quote is by Maya Angelou, who said, “To those who have given up on love, I say trust life a little bit.”
On the surface, this quote seems to imply that finding love is something that “just happens to us” – all we need to do is wait. As most women our age can confirm, this is almost certainly not the case.
But, there is something slightly deeper in these words that I want to discuss. In order to find love after 60, we at least need to be open to the possibility. Then, when the time comes, we need to be willing to act – to put ourselves in the right place, flirt a little, and open ourselves up to the possibility of rejection.
I think that this is what Maya was really saying. It’s not that love will just come to us by itself. But, unless we are willing to trust life a bit, we won’t even see the potential for love if it is staring us in the face.

Do you think that finding love after 60 is still possible? Have you or anyone that you know found an amazing partner after 60? How did this happen? What advice would you give to the other women in our community who would still like to have a man in their life, but, are currently single?
