You probably know by now that laughter is good for you. For starters, according to the Mayo Clinic, laughter is an immediate stress-reliever. Over the long-term, it may even help to boost your immune system and increase your sense of personal satisfaction. In addition, as I just wrote about, laughter may also be one of the keys to building trusting relationships.
So, when I came across this video of Dame Helen Mirren giving a fake award acceptance speech after inhaling helium, I just had to share it.
In her recent interview on The Tonight Show, Mirren was probably prepared to talk about her acting career, her perspective on ageing and everything in-between. She probably wasn’t expecting to be invited to accept an award after inhaling helium. As Mirren explains, she hasn’t done anything like that since she was 11-years-old.
The result is magical. Not only is Mirren’s acceptance speech hilarious, but, it reminds us not to take life too seriously at any age. Sometimes happiness comes from remembering what it was like to be a child, when our only limitation was our imagination.
Please watch the video. Then, let’s start a conversation at the end of the article.
I don’t know about you, but, I’m a big Helen Mirren fan. There is something about the way that she is able to combine charm with comedy that is completely unique.
Never forget that laughter is serious business. The next time that someone asks you to stop watching cat videos so that you can do something “more productive,” you can politely inform that that you are busy building your happiness.
Do you agree that laughter is one of the keys to happiness at any age? What do you do when you feel like a laugh? Are you a Helen Mirren fan? What was your favorite film of hers? Please join the conversation.
