It can be very difficult to find dresses in particular for women our ages. If you will take time to do some scrolling there are some lovely dresses at Silk Fred in a wide range of prices. I believe many of us are careful shoppers as to the costs. Yes, Chico’s has lovely clothing but not entirely affordable. There is Chico’s Off the Rack, OR best of all try updating what is already in your closet even if you need help from a seamstress, you can renew or remake. I took in a dress, and had the bodice removed and now have a skirt I love. Not only do you save dollars but you are helping the environment too.
I love, love, love Ross — especially on Tuesdays because I’m part of their Tuesday Club! All you have to do to become a member is be 55 or older! We get 10% off on Tuesdays! I stop in there regularly just for fun — and looking for a bargain. The clearance racks are often quite good. As my friend said, “you never spend over $20 for things!” This was a dozen years ago and still applies. I particularly love wearing dresses and even put them on when doing errands or walking my dogs. They make me feel good so I do it for myself! Usually there are GREAT bargains in the dress department of my local Ross stores. Tomorrow is Tuesday — have fun shopping and don’t be afraid to stand out a little and wear a dress! It’s fun and maybe a stranger will give you a complement. This often happens to me and makes my day!!

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the latest clothing styles are unflattering to most people? I would like to buy a dress or skirt, but honestly, I have gone to several websites and can’t find a thing I like. The clothes look frumpy, and those that aren’t seem to be for women under 25. Has anyone else had any luck? I did buy some Chico’s clothes this summer, and they looked cute when I bought them, but when I put them on to go out, I wasn’t very happy with how they looked. Unless you’re 5’9″ and weigh 115 lbs., most things just don’t look very good. That’s not the body type of most women in their 60s and beyond.
I agree Clara, it is not easy finding quality items that are flattering. I am seeing boxy blouses, tops and sweaters. We need to define our waist no matter how much it has changed but some designers fail to recognize this.
I love a good quality turtleneck but again, it is a challenge to find one that is long enough, light enough for my fluctuating hormones and at the same time not see through. I do love fall clothes shopping though, the rich colours are beautiful.

I have the same problem. I have found that having basic pants in basic colors then going to thrift store to find an interesting top or scarf works well.
I go into Nordstrom and find absolutely nothing that I like or would spend the money on. Designers to not design for 60/70 years of age.
I usually end up with NYDJ jeans and a cashmere sweater ( on sale). Add a jacket or poncho and that’s it for Fall.
I rarely dress up but would like to find casual clothes that are flattering and modern.
Try J.Crew. I just ordered some things for them from them and I’m very happy. I am 51 and 61 years old. I have ordered several things from Chicos and wound up returning them because they did not appear to be of quality fabric. they also seemed like they were from much older ladies.
