I was the first person in my family to attend college. Like many boomer women, I did not follow a traditional path. I chose to not marry right out of high school and, instead, decided to travel and pursue a university degree.

My passion for learning and curiosity for life dominated my personality back then. Travel became my vehicle for exploring new cultures and meeting new people. My passion for learning led to a degree in Comparative Religion.

For six years, I worked full-time and attended classes at the University of Colorado. It was an astounding time, one in which I learned so much about myself, my relationships and my world.

Every book I opened and every trip I embarked on took me one step closer to being the person that I am today. Now, in my 60s, I am still constantly on the hunt for new opportunities to learn and travel, preferably together.

So, today, I want to tell you about a truly unique program that I just learned about. It’s called the Road Scholar World Academy. But, first, let me give you a little background on why I think this topic is so important to women our age.

Education, whether formal or informal, has played an important role in our lives. Now, many women in their 60s feel like they are back in the 1960s.
