Like so many 1960s shows, Lost in Space left its mark on popular culture. Even today, if you say “Danger Will Robinson,” you will be instantly understood, even if the person who you are talking too never watched the show.
Now, like so many products and cultural icons from our past – from the VW bug to Ocean’s Eleven – Lost in Space is about to be reimagined.
That’s right, very soon, you will be able to smile as your grandson or granddaughter hears the robot say “Danger Will Robinson” for the first time! I can’t wait!
The original series followed the adventures of a family who are stranded in space after their space ship is sabotaged. It ran for three seasons, between 1965 and 1968. Do you remember the show? I do!
In the latest trailer, which has just been released by Netflix, the Robinson family is seen entering their ship for the first time. They are leaving behind a world that has been destroyed by natural disasters, war and poverty.
As in the original series, the Robinson’s ship crash lands on an alien planet and the family is forced to use all of their skills and intelligence to survive.
Here is the launch announcement trailer from Netflix.
According to Netflix, Lost in Space will be available on April 13, 2018. Fortunately for those of us who love to binge-watch our favorite TV shows, Netflix will release 10 Lost in Space episodes all at once. So, I for one am going to block out the weekend of April 14th to watch!
The cast of the reimagined Lost in Space will include:
Toby Stephens as John Robinson
Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson
Ignacio Serricchio as Don West
Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson
Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson
Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson
Parker Posey as Dr. Smith
Personally, I can’t wait to watch this new show. I’ll be back to let you know what I think soon!
