Secondhand stores and thrift shops are growing in popularity as consumers become more environmentally conscious. One trend that’s on the rise due to secondhand shopping is vintage bohemian. The style often consists of loose, colorful, and feminine clothing.

The bohemian style was popularized in the 1960s and 1970s, exemplifying the lifestyle of the free spirits and hippies from that generation. If you happen to be holding on to clothing pieces from that era, you can use them and add a modern twist to them.

For a modern take on the bohemian style, pair your vintage pieces with something edgy. You can, for example, layer a lace dress with a classic leather jacket to keep it casual yet effortlessly stylish.

Short Cardigans

Fast fashion trends come and go in the blink of an eye. They come out of nowhere, oversaturate almost immediately, and then go out as quickly as they appeared. But with vintage clothing, you can mix and match it with any modern style and still look quite trendy.

Try to modify the look of your vintage piece if you want give it a modern flair. Let’s say you have a bunch of short cardigans that you don’t get to wear as often as you used to in the ’70s. You can turn your cardigan into a shirt, then layer it with a chic new jacket to make the look more modern and fresh.

Denim Jackets and White Shirts

Thrift shopping is an incredible experience. You’ll see a wide array of choices, from pants and shirts to shoes. There, you can also choose from a variety of colors and prints. Often, it gets quite overwhelming when you aren’t quite sure what you’re looking for.

If you don’t know what to get, you can pick up vintage classics that never go out of style: denim jackets and white shirts. These pieces are quite easy to combine with your existing clothing items. Denim jackets, for instance, can be paired with dresses or shirts and jeans.

White shirts, on the other hand, make an excellent choice for days when you feel like you’ve got nothing else to wear. You can put on a shirt and pair it with colorful pants or ones with funky prints, and you’re good to go.
