Can you find love with a good man after 60? Yes, you can.
I know this because I did it myself along with many of my clients. So, the question is how? The three dating tips I’m going to share can help you jumpstart your love life and put you in the game for attracting and keeping love.
I used to buy the same top in five different colors. Then I’d pair them up with black jeans and – don’t laugh – Birkenstocks. (By the way, they are back in style!) This worked when I first started dating in my 40s as a suburban mom, but it didn’t serve me well when it came to dating in my 50s. I’d try on everything I owned with piles of clothes everywhere. Yet I had nothing to wear on a date. Not surprising when my sense of style was so outdated!
Finally, a light bulb went off and I realized I needed some serious personal updating. I went to my hairdresser and asked for streaks in my hair. She laughed and gently told me it was now called highlighting. I got a pedicure.
I dumped the Birkenstocks, the jeans and the variations of the same top I had in my closet. I remember finding five pink blouses, 10 black t-shirts and a couple of random color polo type shirts. No wonder I couldn’t find anything to wear!
I found a department store that offered a complimentary personal shopper. My look was updated with three dating outfits I could mix and match. And when I went on a date I felt amazing! Finally, I was leading with confidence – something men are attracted to in women!
Men in their 50s and 60s aren’t the men you got to know in your teens and 20s. Like us, they’ve changed over the years. Men want to be accepted as men, not as women in men’s bodies. They speak and hear language in a different way than we as women do.
I always teach my clients the Four Magic Words – “I need your help.” Or the Five Magic Words – “Can you do me a favor?” These phrases can trigger the hero response with actions that make you feel adored and cherished by a man. They truly want to make the woman in their life happy. Just be sure to appreciate his efforts when he does.
Trust me, these words are magical! I’ve seen the difference they’ve made in my life and the lives of my clients. Try them with the men you want to attract and keep in your life.
Dating sites can be a hard road to travel when it comes to finding love. They are one-dimensional. This means that everyone makes a snap decision based on a picture. You end up missing potentially great guys because they aren’t photogenic or they can’t express their personality in words.
Do use dating sites, but also get out there and meet men in real life. You get a full view of who a man really is because you get to see both his looks and his personality and how they work together.
I had a client who met her guy at Meetup.com and another one who met her husband at the license bureau.
Start talking to men everywhere and learn how to flirt. In my opinion, you’re never too old to flirt and it’s fun! No, you don’t have to bat your eyelashes, but you do want to smile a lot!
Another way to find your guy is through a matchmaker. If you go this route, I suggest using a matchmaker who is on their own versus using an agency. They are more invested in their client’s results because their reputation is at stake.
The advantage of using a matchmaker is they vet their clients before you meet them; something you must do on your own with online dating when you’re scrolling through hundreds of profiles.
Regardless of whether you use online dating, or you meet men in real life, or you use a matchmaker to find love, you are still going to have to meet a lot of men to find your prince.
Dating is like going after a job you want. You have to know what you want and how you’re going to get it. The three tips I shared are a great way to get started!
Are you actively looking for a man in your life? Do you feel comfortable flirting and starting a conversation with a man you don’t know? Do you use the four or five magic words to attract a man? Please share in the comments.
